My background is multi-faceted. From an educational and practice-based foundation in fine arts, through work in documenting and representing systems architectures, my experience marries a conceptual understanding of cultural issues with information technologies to further possibilities for communication, interaction and learning across traditional disciplinary and cultural boundaries. Primarily, my current research and professional activities are focused in the areas of: design and the arts; human-computer interaction and interface design; universal accessibility; educational technologies; museum studies; and systems architectures. In addition, recent teaching activities have developed my interpersonal communication, training, project management, and facilitation skills. Through my years of professional work, I have developed both an ability to produce creative solutions to a variety of problems, and the social skills that are necessary to effectively communicate and work with clients, project managers, architects, designers, programmers and -- most importantly -- users. My thorough understanding of usability methods, combined with my active involvement in professional and leading-edge research, helps me ensure that my creative and social skills produce useful, usable, and valuable results.
